Zones where adjacent pace layers slide at different speeds, generating friction at interfaces such as fast media against slow institutions as well as human infrastructure against climate systems. GSV identifies these shearing zones as sites of high generative potential; many of the hulls are constructed specifically to be stationed at these layer boundaries.
