fashionsomething is an open-world cyberpunk life-sim where the core verb is being seen in public. Aesthetics, routine, and movement through the city are the inputs; the city's perception is the feedback, replacing combat with vibe transmission.
fashionsomething
fashionsomething is a city life-simulation game, designated GSV-B1 (hexagon) in the General Systems Ventures portfolio, built around the premise that being seen -- not combat or resource extraction -- is the core gameplay verb. There is no combat and no resource management; the player's inputs are what they wear, eat, listen to, work as, and how they move through the city, and the output is how the city perceives them in return, mediated by a mechanic called vibe transmission: a passive, ambient broadcast of the player's aesthetic that accrues credibility, confidence, and community as they exist in public space. The key design decision is that aesthetics are not cosmetic flavor over separate 'real' systems -- clothing, food, music, occupation, and mobility are themselves the stats-moving verbs. Architecturally, the game is built to be self-hostable: each city runs as a single static Go binary hosted by an individual player as their own world, with cross-city interaction handled asynchronously and out-of-band, modeled on Dragon's Dogma's pawn-exchange system, where characters and their aesthetics travel between worlds brokered by a small central registry rather than a global authoritative server. The project is explicitly solo-first (a single city must be satisfying to play alone, with hosted multiplayer as opt-in rather than foundational), trading MMO-grade seamlessness for solo-dev tractability and player sovereignty over their own world instance. Within the GSV portfolio it connects to Solwend, a shade-aware comfort-routing platform that serves as shared substrate across fashionsomething, StepsDaddy, uncrancher, and after-them, and it is tagged as a Vibecology integration target. Current status, per the registry, is design-doc stage: the project has been onboarded with a defined mission and engine choice, but no game loop has been built yet.
